On 10 June 2025, peacefully surrounded by his family, aged 85 years. Cherished husband of Therese of 63 years. Much loved and loving father and father-in-law of Trish and Paul Hoskin, Therese and Ross Duncan, Geraldine and Peter Hermens, Fiona and Andy Horne, Christopher and Fabiola, Michaela and Halliday Ryan, Sandra (Alex) and Glenn Booth. Adored Grandad of Zachary and Sarah, Thaddeus, and Seth and Lu; Christopher and Julia, Nicholas and Imogen, and William and Alex; Luchia and Julian, and Amelia and Richard; Madeline and Donny, and Alice and Richard; Nina; Feile, Cecilia, Xavier, and Mary; Elijah, Niamh, Jude, and Saoirse, and his 17 great grandchildren.
Rest in peace. The Flying Scotsman, on his last ride back to Loch Lomond.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick's Basilica, Macandrew Road, South Dunedin at 1pm on Saturday 14 June, followed by a private cremation. Rosary in the Basilica at 4pm on Friday evening.

My condolences Therese and family on the death of Willie. He was a fine man, always ready for a chat. He will be sadly missed but is at peace. I was in Wellington so unable to attend Willie's Requiem but he was in my prayers. Loving thoughts.

To all the Stevenson clan and Therese my thoughts have been with you all the last few days. I know tomorrow will be an incredibly sad day for you all as you remember and honor Willie. He was a great man and I really enjoyed the time he gave me when I entered the cycling world. Weekend trips out to Mosgiel in the mini mok were a highlight as was the Sunday feasts that Therese had ready for us on return. The painful sessions trying to hold his wheel on the portobello loop were also etched in my mind. Rest easy Willie and we will all hopefully catch up again one day on the other side.
