WALKER, Trevor - GP
Peacefully on April 19, 2025 at the Otago Community Hospice, with family by his side; aged 79 years. Loved partner, father, father-in-law, adored grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, loved by all his extended and blended families, friend, and mentor to many. Special thanks to Mercy Cancer Clinic, Dunedin Hospital, Oncology department, and Otago Community Hospice staff for their love and care.
A celebration of Trevor's life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 11am, on Saturday April 26, followed by private cremation. Donations to Otago Community Hospice would be appreciated and may be left at the service. To Janne and family. Thinking of you at this very sad time. Trevor was such a gentleman and has left a wonderful legacy in the work he did in rural health care and particularly PRIME (Primary Response in a Medical Emergency), pre hospital emergency care for rural patients. Dear Trevor you were a wonderful mentor for me during our years working together at Te Anau Medical Centre. Caring, wise and calm even in an emergency. And with that dry Yorkshire sense of humour. It was lovely to get to know Jo and Dale, Gwen , Tanya and Toni whom you loved so much over the years, and in later years dear Janne. Thank you for caring for him so well love from Liz
A huge thank you to everyone that attended Dad's Service, to those who viewed it on live stream and to those that left heart felt messages. Dad's final days in the Otago Hospice were absolutely amazing. I can't thank the team for their support and giving Dad and all of us, the best care and support anyone could have asked for. Dad was a truly amazing man, whose legacy with PRIME- I hope will live on forever and benefit all people in need of help in years to come. Dad was a man with many bows attached to his name. I will look forward to reading his latest -a book that he started researching and writing, I'm sure it will be phenomenal. Forever in my heart XXX
Dear Trevor was the Kindest and ‘Goodest’ Dr and Person there could ever be and I so give Thanks that he choose TeAnau to practice. Janne I looked forward to the day on my regular walks on our sea beaches to see you both walking where I would have simply said “Thank You” to him but it wasnt to be. Huge Love and Hugs to you all on this a very sad day indeed xx
Trevor was an amazing man who touched our lives, so very quietly spoken but with big thoughts, so cool, when he knocked on our door recently, for just a chat and cuppa. Love and hugs to all his family.

Trevor was a mentor for me during my nursing career in TeAnau, someone who just forever touches your life and heart. As a GP he was always an advocate for the patient. With such a sad heart I learn of Trevor’s passing……such a good man with such a gracious and loving heart who cared so deeply for all within his orbit. I reflect on his courage in these last years and the great love he had for life and all within it. He left a great legacy for all who loved and knew him…. To grasp each moment and treasure it and share love and care with those you meet …. For this is a life well lived of no ordinary moments. Your hearts will be sad but his spirit is within …..so go and make him proud and carry the legacy of Trevor Walker forward. Dear Janne and family. So sorry to read of Trevor's death. He was a wonderful colleague of the Department of General Practice - kind, gentle and with a lovely quiet sense of humour and twinkle in his eye.
