Sue passed on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Otago Community Hospice, aged 63 years, with her family and dog Ollie nearby. Wonderful mum of Helena, beloved sister of Anne and Jane, and delighted grandmother to Owen. Her struggle with cancer was long and defiant, and she is now able to have a well-deserved rest.
A memorial service for Sue has been held in St John's Anglican Church, 373 Highgate, Roslyn, Dunedin, on Saturday, May 24, where her ashes have also been interred in the memorial garden.

Sue was a faithful and active part of our 8.00am Sunday service at All Saints in Taradale. She is still missed and spoken about with love and respect. Everything Sue did she did with energy and enthusiasm. Love and sympathy to Helena and to Sue’s sisters who visited us at All Saints. Angela

We knew Sue only in her last months on Thornicroft Road. On our first meeting she pulled out some day-old chicks from under her shirt and gave them to us to mind as we sat and talked. The last time was at a gathering of neighbours on Thornicroft Road, which in view of Sue's weakened state, was heroic. In a short time she connected memorably with so many of us. Her clear-eyed attitude towards death and her positive focus on what was still left in her 'cup of life' is inspiring. Sorry for your loss - for our loss too.
