Hearing the news was shocking as we had just waved at you the day before and pulled the usual funny faces. You were such an amazing guy and we always enjoyed your banter and fun nature. Our thoughts are with your family. Lots of love Jodie and Arlea

To my Uncle Vince, It’s still hard to believe you’re gone. I look back on my life and hold happy memories with you — well, except for that time I stayed at your place when I was young and accidentally put a teaspoon of salt in my tea instead of sugar! Thank you for always making the effort to see me when I visited and for coming all the way to Australia to spend time with us. I’ll miss the family banter, the way you adored Briar, and our playful battles for the last piece of Nana’s fudge. Your presence will be deeply missed. Much love xx

I knew Vince from the 1960's when we went to Primary School at St Thomas's in Winton. Together with another friend Matthew Russell we all were good mates. One of our proudest moments was winning the under 5 stone rugby Tournament against Winton Primary. We felt like All Blacks. I socialized with Vince in Dunedin until 1986 when I left the area. Last year we made contact with each other after 38 years which was great. We had plans to catchup but sadly that is going to have to wait. A great guy, honest with lots of humour. My thoughts are with the family.

Vince I have no idea how to say goodbye to you. Your loss feels like some strange rumour that I can't really believe is real. Your impact on my life and the journey we took together will never be forgotten. Love never dies and I'll keep yours with me forever. Briar, I have seen many many men become father's over the years, but none more smitten, proud and enthralled as yours. You dad was incredibly proud of you, and I'm so very sorry you've lost him so young. I'm sure he'll be keeping an eye on you always x Rebecca

Vinnie, what a shock to hear from Sharon that you left us so suddenly last week. I feel so sad for all who have lost you, including us but especially Briar who you were so very proud of in your own very modest way. We enjoyed so much banter over the years dating back to the 10 Pitt St days and then after, including the odd late night drive in your speedy Mazda with the "pop up lights." I will never forgive you for one of those drives when we found ourselves in Invercargill!! We were just going for a burger after a drink at the local pub. Next minute, we are waking your poor sister who we frightened half to death, asking if we could doss down there at 2am before leaving again at 5am and driving back for work! Vinnie, go well my friend, you never changed, you were a great friend to so many and you will be so very missed ❤️

Briar, I was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of your beloved Dad, family member, and friend. To me friend, Vinnie. My heart aches for you and your family and his friends during this time. Your Dad was a dear friend to me who selflessly helped me during a time when I needed it most. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on my life, and I will always cherish the memories of his warmth and compassion. Please know that I am here for you, albeit virtually. If there is anything I can do to support you during this time, do not hesitate to reach out. May you find comfort in the love and memories you shared with him, and may his legacy of kindness and strength continue to inspire you. With my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences I wish you thanatotic strength and solace. Barry b.

Thank you for your friendship and laughter over many years Vinnie. I’m going to miss you so very much and I know I’m not alone in that. I can’t believe you’ll never walk through our front door ever again and sit down for a chat. Briar – I’m so sorry that you lost your lovely dad far too soon. He was so very proud of you.

To Briar, I'm so very sorry for the sudden loss of your Dad Vince. I know how hard it is loosing a parent at such a young age. It's not an easy thing to go through especially for you when the loss was sudden and unexpected. I know you will have the support of family and friends around you. Keep talking to them about how you are feeling. Your Dad was a good man and he was very proud of you. Take Care ❤️ Debbie Bethune (Janines Sister)
