Died peacefully at the Otago Community Hospice with her family by her side. Most dearly loved wife of Ron Turner, mother of Stella, Jack, and Gene, loved and respected elder of Kirsten, Rosie, and Cameron; and around 2000 University students (ACCT222), adored Gran of Kai and Jude, cherished sister, and inspiring aunty.
Many thanks to the staff at the Hospice, Prof. Chris Jackson and staff at Mercy Cancer Care, Dr Rachel Wensley and staff at Roslyn Health Centre, Andrew Hou and staff at Roslyn Pharmacy, and all SDHB staff (in particular the Oncology Ward) for their care over the last four years.
A Memorial Service will be held in Hopes and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 2.00pm on Saturday July 27 . You can view a livestream of the service via the link below. Messages to 80 Duncan Street, Dunedin 9016.

To The Family Sending my condolences and apologies for this late message. I don't get a newspaper, but my neighbour sometimes gives me hers. I have just got Saturday's ODT with Ros's obituary in it. I worked with Ros at the Commission for the Environment in Wellington in the 1980s. After she left to go to Dunedin, we exchanged letters until 1997 when she got busy with her Ph.D. studies. In January 2023 I got my letters scanned. Among them were hers. I looked online, found her email, and got in touch. We exchanged a few emails and photos. I am so pleased I had that contact with her, and very sad that she has now succumbed to cancer, the same cancer that took my cousin who was a second mother to me when I was young. Margaret Bailey

Dear Ron I am so sad that Ros has died. It was my pleasure and great honour to work with her in 2019 and 2020 as the Lead Administrator while she was acting Head of Department and as Head of Department. I am so sorry I was not able to be at the memorial service today. I loved working with her, she was a very dear and special person. My deepest condolences to you all. Brenda

Turner/Whiting Families. So sad to hear of Ros' passing as she was such a lovely person and a good friend. We enjoyed so many happy times in Ross Street and good times at our bach at Hampden. Remember taking Stella to Roxburgh on many occasions. We have such fond memories of our times with Ros & Stella and those we will always treasure Love to Ron and all the family.
Dear Ron I was saddened to see that Ros had died and I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and to Stella (Sophie's friend from years ago), to Jack and to Gene. We have not met up for a number of years, but I remember you and Ros very well and treasure the times that we had together. (I now live in Central Otago). Lesley who died in 2022 and I had a lot to do with your family when we had young children. Stella was so good to Sophie. Ros was a lovely kind person Ron. Best wishes, Gil

Hi Ron, Stella, Jack and Gene. My friendship with Ros, and Ron, goes back to the late 1970s. Ros is one of the very best people I have ever been lucky enough to know. Her integrity, thoughtfulness, caring, intelligence, and resilient are not are so inspiring. She was a wonderful woman who we will dearly missed. All our aroha and very best wishes to you all. To the Whiting/Turner family. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. I was a mature student taking Acct 222 when I first met Ros. What an inspiration she was. A great teacher and very passionate about the subject. Ros, always took a great interest in the progress students were making and always had time to talk. A very sad loss to the university and society in general. You will have very special memories of Ros - treasure them
Thank you Ros for taking a chance on me when I was fresh off the boat, so many years ago. I remember every conversation we had in your office and how generous you were with your time and energy. Looking forward to catching up with you again, in a better place.
