Adored and deeply loved husband of Deborah. Proud and devoted father to Brooke, Kendyl, Simon, and Zachary, respected father-in-law of Scotty Cain, Alex Glover, and Elisabeth Blue. His legacy will live on through his grandsons, Hooper, and Harrex Cain, Hudson Glover, Beaumont, and Richmond Blue.
His positivity and determined attitude was admired by all who knew him. He was a gifted and naturally talented Clinical Dental Technician who thrived on giving his patients back their smile.
In accordance with Richard’s wishes, a private family service has been held.

I was very sorry to read of Richard's death in the ODT yesterday. Although our paths didn't cross in recent years, he and I had a very close association when I was in part-time specialist prosthodontics practice in Dunedin throughout the 1990s. He was a superb dental technician, quite the best I worked with. More than that, though, he was a nice guy, and a pleasure to work with. One of my favorite memories involves the time he took me salmon fishing in the Otago Harbour and I caught the only salmon I ever landed! My sincere condolences to those he leaves behind. He died much too young.
