On behalf of myself, Robyn Vintiner, my parents, brother & sister & 3 daughters, I would like to say how much we enjoyed having Peter in our lives. When Merrilyn died I was introduced to Peter & we had 16 lovely year together before he had to go into care. We enjoyed the same music, walking daily, eating out, socialising with friends & going on wonderful holidays. My parents used to love sitting down & chewing over the world events & what they had been reading with Peter when we visited them. We really appreciated that he generously let us use his Queenstown house for our family events, as it was just around the corner from my parents who were getting elderly & had only a small living area. He enjoyed being part of our family events & we all enjoywed his non-confrontational energy. My daughters appreciated & respected him & saw the support & caring he gave their mother. I always felt safe with him - a real gentleman. It has been sad to see his deterioration & I'm so glad he is now at rest!

Dear Peter, Alison, Jo, families and Russ. We were very sad to learn of Pete’s passing. Please accept our deepest sympathy and apology that we will not be at the service as we are currently in Yorkshire. Pete was our best man nearly 60 years ago, and Russ our groomsman, but our connection long precedes that. We have such fond memories of Pete driving Grandma Dick’s car in a way that would have horrified her to shake off our chasers after the wedding. He was always good fun with a great sense of humour and will be fondly remembered. We are thinking of you all at this sad time/ With love and condolences Val & John Boyd.

Our thoughts are with the family. Happy memories of sitting in the chair at Peter Dick Opticians and Peter saying Bettteer or worse! Peter was a true gentleman a great friend and fellow Rotarian. We also have memories of Merilyn. Both great parents and grandparents Pauline and Derek Hope

To Peter and Sandra and the extended Dick family I was saddened to learn of Peter's death and unfortunately will not be able to attend his service at the golf club on Monday. When I came to Dunedin in 1979 Peter Dick Optometrists was one of three multigenerational practices in Dunedin - the others being BF&D and Neills. I looked forward to the monthly NZAO meetings at the practice and was made to feel welcome by the more senior optometrists (when you're 23 everyone is more senior). Your father was very kind to me when I first entered private practice in 1983 and provided me with workshop and glazing services in the first year until I went into partnership with Brian. Later in the 1990's I was appointed to the Opticians' Board - Peter was still on the Board at the time and we worked together until he retired from the Board. Later when I became chair and the Board was dealing with the contact lens case in the High Court he was very supportive. I know you will all miss him terribly and Sandra and I pass on our condolences.
