HOFFMAN, Patricia Mary (Pat, nee Wilson) J.P. Rtd
On August 16, 2024, at home, 4 Allandale Road, St Clair, Dunedin; with her loving husband Marshall by her side. Beloved wife of Marshall and lovingly devoted mother of Paul, mother-in-law of Bernice, and grandmother of Emily, and Katie – all of Auckland. Beloved elder daughter of the late Tom and Louisa Wilson, formerly of Thornbury, Southland. Loving sister of the late Jenny Hill, and aunt of Jarrad. Sister-in-law of Lindsay Hoffman, and Gillian Fabling, lovingly regarded aunt of Sacha, and Gareth Lloyd, and great aunt of Reuben (France), and Lloyd.
Pat was a School Teacher for approximately 50 years, with 16 years as a Principal. Then was encouraged to come out of retirement for a further 10 years to assist in a Manager and Principal position, she has been retired for less than ten years. She loved her occupation as does her son who is Deputy Principal of 800 plus pupils on the North Shore, Auckland.
A service for Pat will be held in Knox Church, 449 George St, Dunedin at 11.00am, on Wednesday August 21. Afternoon tea will be provided, then the service will proceed to the Dunedin Cemetery (near the St Clair Golf Course). Use the link below if you wish to join the service via livestream.

I have only seen this now and am sad to hear of Pats passing. Often over the years I had wondered how she had been and what she had been doing, I was a student at Rotary Park when Mrs Hoffman was the Principal, I remember how sad I was when she was leaving there. She was honestly a remarkable, beautiful and wonderful human being that made such a positive impact on so many peoples lives, I hope she knew that. May she rest in peace 🩷
I have just watched this wonderful farewell and celebration online. I was one of the lucky Green Island School 1960s pupils and we all loved Mrs Hoffman. Later in life we lived in Highcliff and the saddest thing about moving from there to Alexandra was that our daughter missed out on being taught by this same wonderful lady. Whenever we met, she always exuded love and warmth. Our last meeting was at Otakau Marae on Waitangi Day a few years ago, and it was a treasured time to sit on her picnic blanket with Marshall and have a catch-up. What a beautiful lady in every way!!
To the Hoffman Family I was introduced to Pat and Jenny and their Mum Auntie Loui many years ago by my Mum Phyllis Burgess - nee Wilson- who was Pats cousin. So very sad to hear of Pats passing - I knew her as a truly Beautiful person whom everyone loved. May she rest in Peace. Dear Paul and Marshall, Although we can’t be with you in person, please know that our thoughts are with you during this time. Pat was a remarkable woman whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met.I remember how Pat would light up when she spoke about you, Paul. Her love and pride in you were evident in every conversation. And her joy in her granddaughters, Emily and Katie, was equally heartwarming. It was so touching to see how proud she was of them and how much she cherished their time together. Even when she was frail, her eyes would sparkle with love when she talked about her family. My most favorite teacher from primary school days at Brighton School. A truly wonderful teacher and brilliant pianist. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. My condolences to all the family. R.I.P lovely lady.

To Marshall, Paul, and family. We spent 10 years as neighbours only moving around 12 months ago. Our time will always be remembered fondly, especially when Pat gave us pink and blue hand towels and asked us to hang the appropriate colour out our upstairs window when our first wee one was born :-). Pat was a wonderful person, and was always a pleasure to see and have a chat.
