Unexpectedly at home, on January 17, 2026; aged 75 years. Dearly loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. - A funeral for Norman will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 11:00am on Monday, January 26, followed by private cremation.

To Norms family my deepest condolences. I first met Norm on my 10th birthday. My father took me to the bandroom in 1969 and Norm gave me my 1st instrument. Norm was my mentor for many years . I performed with him over many years. I also followed Norm into the NZ Army Band. He was a fine musician, and good friend. Kindest regards. Stephen Wedlock
So sad to read about Norm's passing and my thoughts and love go out to his family. My 3 children went down to Dunedin to study and were so incredibly lucky to have Norm as their conductor when they joined the Kaikorai Metropolitan Brass Band. They always spoke very highly of Norm and still do to this day. He was an awesome man, very caring, kind and funny too and a great talented musician and conductor who loved to share his knowledge. My son plays principal cornet for the Kaikorai Brass band and it was an honor he could play today for Norm who he thought the wotld of. RIP Norm, you made a lasting impression on my children and many others xx
Condolences to the family- I meet Norm when he was an account manager for the Hits - and my time at Carters - a man of his word - always delivered & always had a deal for you . My memories of you my friend are full of smiles, from you trying occasionally to be stern with us during our days with Addington Brass (that normally resolved to a grin) to many nights of drinking good wine whilst watching cricket on tv. Cathy, Steve and I giving you s- -t about your new car - ‘the black blob’ you took with that same grin. Fun times that will live on in fond memories. It’s now time for you to again join your father for another truly magnificent duet with your mum watching and listening with pride. Rest now my friend. Your concerto is complete.
