Peacefully on June 4, 2026, at The Grange Lifecare, with family by her side; in her 95th year.
Much loved wife of the late Brockie, dearly loved Mum and mother-in-law of Max and Dolly, Bob and Joanne, Margaret and Peter, David and Diana, and the late Rosemary, loved Grandma of Joshua, Anouska, and Lewis; Candice, and Jessica; Lance, and Wade; and Ellie, and a great-grandma of 17.
A service for Mary will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin, at 11am on Tuesday, June 9, followed by private cremation. Messages to the Brockbank Family, C/- PO Box 5013, Dunedin 9054, or to Mary's page below where a livestream of the service can be viewed.

On behalf of members of the (now disestablished) Waikouaiti Rural Women’s group I would like to extend our belated, but sincere condolences to the family of Mary. It was with sadness we read of Mary’s passing, but it did bring back wonderful memories of times spent together. For many years we enjoyed Mary’s company, always happy to contribute to our events and meetings with both enthusiasm and fun. Mary was a kind and charitable person who has left us with many fond memories. Rest in peace Mary

Mary and her sister Ruth were the mainstay of the Waikouaiti Museum for many years. Ruth undertook to complete extensive family histories of the early families who settled here and Mary was a highly valued energetic committee member from 1916 until 2014. Mary was also a founding member of the local RDA and supported the group for many years. She was a very well-known identity in the Waikouaiti area during her lifetime. Our sincere sympathy to all the members of Mary and Ruths families.
I had the privilege of meeting Mary in her mature years, in the health care capacity. I enjoyed hearing her stories of her earlier life, her horse she rode to school, her cat, and always her love of blue clothes and her beautiful knitted garments. Thinking of you Marg and all your family.
