A terrible loss. Sending my love to all Martin’s friends, family and collaborators. Was a privilege to know and spend time with you in fleeting moments over the years. Go well, Martin.

The amazing music (those 'new' songs!), the funny stories, the tributes (so richly deserved)... everything faded away for a moment when Martin's father recalled that "Not long ago Martin you said to me that I was your best friend. I thank you for that, and remember with Barbara [Martin's late mum] that we would wish for nothing more". That was a profoundly moving moment. Martin - thank you for your music, which will live forever, and thank you for being a beautiful human being.

So poignant to be part of the funeral watching from Perth, Western Australia. Music that I loved that was part of my youth and part of my life in Dunedin. I flatted down the road from the Phillipps family in Albany St in a student flat - at a latter time I am sure - early 1980s. To hear the stories and memories of family and friends, and the music that inspired and was written by Martin. Thank you for sharing this celebration of Martin Phillipps life. A true musician, creative and wonderful human being.

We woke up to a Pink Frost yesterday morning here down the road from Lake Hāwea, the morning after Martin's funeral. Frost everywhere reflecting the sunrise and thoughts of Martin and The Chills. I have a photo. Thank you for the music.

What an amazing funeral on Friday afternoon. It was such a highlight for me to see The Chills back in 2019 as it was a long time dream for me to see The Chills live. I will always be grateful to have seen them live. They are my all time favorite Dunedin band. So many wonderful memories through their music. His music will live forever

Very fond memories of a hot concert at The Yot Club in Raglan a few years ago. I took the whole family and they were introduced to his amazing lyrics and music. Anything treasured is slipped into the catch line: “I love my leather jacket” as in the multiple action Dominion board game card, Workers’ Village, “I love my Workers’ Village…” Martin was one of the best musicians we have ever produced. With lots of love from only a four month younger Steven in sunny Nelson.

Oceans of gratitude to the Phillipps family for so generously allowing Martin's far-flung admirers to participate in his send-off. The service was beautiful, moving, uplifting, and illuminating. I still grieve Martin's passing, but I feel better having learned he was surrounded by so much love and support during his struggles. I hope the knowledge he was so loved and admired by thousands of us around the globe helps comfort you in your own much deeper grief.

Martin, I will miss you. I was both shocked and surprised to hear of your passing. Thank you for the great memories we shared, as we built our secret track from Union St to Albany Street so it was easier to get to each others houses, for helping me get a labrador pup a litter mate to yours. The laughs we shared, the music, and reconnecting in later years. Thank you for your legacy, your music, your lyrics, they will live on.
