I would like to extend my belated, but sincere condolence to the family of Marshall-san. It was many years ago when we first met in Otaru. I still remember clearly that day. Since then, our friendship went on personally and as the members of Dunedin and Otaru Sister City Society. He greatly contributed to promote ties between Dunedin and Otaru especially arts. He has an excellent eye for art. He was really a charming person. Whenever he visited Otaru, we, his friends in Otaru shared a wonderful time together. I was also happy that I could have chance to meet his wonderful family. I can tell his life must have been so happy blessed with such a nice family. I'm sad, but it's time to say good-bye to you, Marshall-san. Thank you very much for many fond memories. Please rest in peace.

Hey Marshall. Sorry that we didn't get the chance to say goodbye. Haven't seen each other for the last couple of years. It would have been nice to sit down for a chin wag along with a cigar and a single malt and just go for a trip down memory lane. Lots of happy memories from years past involving basketball,art, travel and especially Japan and our Sister City Otaru. You were such a major part of the that relationship for many years. You were the catalyst for a lot of the cultural exchanges that took place between Dunedin and Otaru and close friendships that endure to this day. You will be sadly missed by Anna Lise and the girls but also by the many people like me who enjoyed your company and infectious enthusiasm for all things relating to sports, music, culture and the good things in life. Dearest Anna Lise and family, it was with sadness I read of Marshals passing, but it did bring back wonderful memories of our times together in the very early years when Marshal and I worked together in the early days of DNTV2 and we all enjoyed getting to know one another. We were a diverse lot that’s for sure, and although our times together over the years have been infrequent, these memories are never forgotten. My love to you.. June(Mills). 💜
