MURRELL, Margaret - On September 7, 2025, peacefully at Dunedin Hospital; aged 86 years.
Loving mother and mother-in-law of Martin and Sarah, Rachel and Darren, Ellen-Mary, and the late Stephen, much loved Grandma of Mia, Stella, and Thomas. A loved sister, and aunt of her extended family. Special thanks to the staff of Dunedin Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Margaret.
-- A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 2.00pm on Thursday September 11, followed by private cremation.

On behalf of the family of Margaret's very dear and close friend Phyllis O'Brien, we would like to extend our sympathy to you all on the passing of Margaret. Our Mum and Margaret had a very unique and close friendship and when Mum passed (31 years ago) I know that Margaret felt her loss so very deeply. I remember meeting her a few years after and Margaret telling me she hadn't been able to face going back into her garden after Mums death, for a very long time. They both had such an interest in gardening and most Saturday's Mum was to be found in Shandon Road in the garden. Please remember the good times and the love your Mum had for you all. I met Margaret in the late 1970's and 1980's when I worked with her at Otago Girl's High School when she was the Transition to Work Teacher and I was their Guidance Counsellor. Margaret was always cheerful, kind and bright in manner and I think that I will mostly remember her smile which was ever present whenever I met her, no matter how difficult the case might be that came her way. It was lovely to hear about her family life and activities at the service today as back then working life was so busy that those things did not have time to be discussed. I discovered that she was interested in classical music for the first time today. I am too so it was most interesting to hear that. I send my deepest sympathy to you all in the sad loss of Margaret.
