To the family of Margaret, I was a client from 1992 - 1999 and Margaret helped me through the most difficult time of my life, it took years. She was doing psychotherapy with me. She helped the child part of me because I was not trusting of anyone. She perservered even though the therapy was hard for me. She was a gentle, a very caring person and really wanted to see me get well. She helped me when I ended up in hospital, she visted me. She was a very encouraging lady, so soft in nature and we got on really well in times of difficulty. After the therapy was over, we stayed in touch. We sent eachother letters, she always reassured me through difficult times. Everytime she saw me in the street she would stop and say "hello!" with a big smile on her face. She never gave up on me and I felt her sense of caring, it helped me to perservere in tough time. I feel very blessed to have had her as my therapist at the time and I still feel blessed to this day because its helped me to this day still, she helped with the groundwork to make my life what it is now. So today I still feel very blessed, so when I think of her and see her picture I feel lots of love. My thoughts are with her family in this difficult time. I send my love and sincere sympathy to Katy , Matthew and Paul and all your family as you grieve the loss of Margaret. Margaret was always warm and welcoming to me as a teenager when I went to visit Katy at your home in Royal terrace. Those are treasured times and you all made me feel at home there. I would see Margaret over the years on special occasions and lastly in October this year when I visited her in the rest home. Her resilience, warmth, intelligence and determination to develop her life to the fullest had an influence on my life and I feel lucky to have known her. She was a remarkable woman. I will always think back fondly on those times she touched my life.

We first met Margaret and her family when they arrived in Dunedin the same day as we did, more than 40 years ago. I share many happy memories of her over that time. I send the family all my sympathies and best wishes for the future - via this message as I am unable to get to the service.

I’m so sorry to hear about Margaret’s passing. Many years ago I had the privilege of knowing her as my therapist. With her care and loving guidances Margaret made a huge difference in my life. After finishing my time with her, I often thought of Margaret, especially when life was challenging. I never forget Margaret and she will live on in my heart. My thoughts are with her grieving family, who lost a wonderful human being.

My sincere condolences for you and your families loss. Margaret was my therapist / trainer and then supervisor. I remember her words fondly, especially "its grist for the mill" and her capacity to share that learning can be found in the greatness of writers She was a (tough / soft) treasure and her legacy lives on in my life with her words. Her unfailing support as I grew up and became a reliant resourceful adult and therapist. She gave me hope in my self which I have embodied and this changed the direction of my life for the better. Sincerely Joan
