SHORT, Lois Beverley (nee Spence) -
On October 8, 2025, peacefully with family as she wished; aged 90 years. Loved wife of the late Gordon Short, much loved mother and mother-in-law of Robert and Pam Short, Loren and Peter McMillan, Warren Short and Jeanette Eagles, and Margo Short. Loved grandmother of Kylie McMillan and Adam Stewart, Amanda and Nasya Thompson, Aaron McMillan and Emma Barraclough, Kenzie and Cody Penson, and Josh Short, great-grandmother to Phoenix Penson, Luca McMillan, and soon to be third addition. Loved daughter of the late Clinton (Clint) and Agnes (Nessie) Spence, and loved sister of the late Urwin Spence.
- A service to celebrate Lois' life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 11:00am, on Tuesday, October 14, the funeral then leaving for Andersons Bay Cemetery. Please dress in bright colours. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John Ambulance would be appreciated and may be left at the service. Margo, condolences to you and your family at the loss of your beloved mother. You were both longstanding members of the Otago Orchid Club and always attended our monthly meetings. Sleep peacefully, Lois.
Sorry for lateness I have been unwell. Just want to pass on my condolences to you Margo, Loren and Peter, Rob and Pam and families. Was so sad to hear about Lois she was a fun person to have around at Cake Decorating club. In her later days of coming she would know what was going on around her and give that cheeky little smile. We had the pleasure of being able to celebrate her 90th birthday with a cake they brought along, and we all sang Happy Birthday. She is certainly going to be missed and sure she will leave a big whole in your lives particularly you Margo as I know how much you did for your mum. I was very sad to hear of the passing of Lois, and even sadder to know that the connection was lost when my Mother passed away in 1986. I was Lois and Gordon's Junior Bridesmaid at their wedding (I was 11 years old at the time). My Mother who was a relation of Lois' Father (her name was Amelia Spence Lind) sang a solo at the wedding.
