I was utmost shocked to hear Lindsay had passed away a few months ago. My love and prayers go out to Tricia and Ellen.
I only met Lindsay a couple of times through McKibbin family connections. He was caring and friendly, someone with a beautiful soul. I remember like it was yesterday him taking me for a ride in his yellow vintage two seater car. He seemed so proud of it, and something I had never ridden in before and since Then I bumped in to him many years later at his sister-in-laws ashes burial. He remembered who I was and approached me with that big smile and a hug. A very kind hearted man, who left a lasting impression with me. RIP Lindsay.

So sad to hear of Lindsay's passing. He was a great guy to work for, a great guy to play bowls against- just a great guy! But for you Lindsay, we may never have heard of Gemmells crossing; and the whole family have GREAT memories of there!
Rest in peace Lindsay.

My mother is Jackie Goyen née Spence, Lindsay’s cousin - and one of the twins. Her mother was Irene Spence (née Ross) who was Lindsay’s Aunt and the sister just older than Alec Ross in the Ross family photos. Irene and Alec were the two youngest children in the large Ross family.
Mum and Dad (Jackie and Jack) were in Alexandra for many years and now they are in care in Wānaka. They are not able to travel any more. Jackie wanted me to tell you that she was sorry to hear from Joey (other twin) that her cousin Lindsay has passed on. She cannot travel but she is thinking of you all at this time.
Condolences to Trish and family from Jackie and Jack and their family - Karen (Australia), Bridgette (Wellington) and Rebecca (Alexandra).

Dear Trish, Alec, Lindy, Ellen, Simon, Emma and Callum,
I have lovely memories of my Uncle Lindsay. As I got older, he didn’t like me calling him uncle, he said it made him feel old.
Lindsay reminds me in several ways of his father, my Granddad Alex, a quiet sort of person who didn’t miss much and who loved a good chat. Granddad used to sit at the back door of his house in Oamaru. He had a long form type seat and he would sit and roll his own cigarettes, while we watched. Sometimes I would sit on his knee and he would tell me about when he lived in Australia and then he would sing Waltzing Matilda. I always think of him when I hear that song.
Lindsay also had a seat at his front door and he would also sit there for a smoke. On occasion as I walked down High Street on my way to work I would see him and call out hi. Sometimes he would call me in and we would have a chat about my family and what everyone was doing.
Lindsay cared a lot about his family and his extended family. When he found out I was doing the Ross Family Tree he gave me some old photos he had of his grandparents, aunts, uncles etc so I could copy them. He was very kind. He had some stories to tell also.
It is sad that all the brothers are gone now, the end of an era you could say.
Rest in peace Uncle Lindsay.
Love Karen (Lex Ross's eldest daughter)
