It was a lovely service today Noeline for your loving husband John. I watched it on the stream service and thought the lady that took the service was lovely. It was nice to see Tania and a brief black and white shot of cousin Ray, also was a treasure. The days will be hard not having John around but wish you and family well.

We have had the privilege of being your neighbour's for 39 years. You saw our boys Jason and Calum (Danger man as you called him) come into our lives. They spent many happy hours with you and Noeline. And then with our Grandsons Charlie and Ollie. We could not have asked for better neighbour's and knew you were always there for us. We enjoyed lots of BBQ's over the years and latterly a late afternoon drink sitting outside in the sun. We'll miss you John as will Charlie and Ollie who would get me to ring you when it snowed and ask you to come out your back door so that you could be greeted by a barrage of snow balls just as their Dad and Uncle had years before. You and Noeline have given us many happy and special memories to cherish forever. Breathe easy John you deserve it xoxoxo

I must say that it was a bit of a shock to read the passing of my old KFTC old school mate, who was in my class 4T2 a trades class back in 1960, hell that's 65 years ago that we both were just young boys there who were keen to learn a trade. In that class we were taught both Engineering and Carpentry skills, and some of those skills I used many times doing jobs throughout my lifetime, we were both lucky really to get that change to learn those skills. As I remember it John telling us in he last year at KETC up in Stuart Street, that he was going to be a bricklayer and he was very determined that's what he was going to be. I use to see him driving his truck around the town of Dunedin after he become a tradesman and went out on his own, we use to wave to one another over the many years he was bricklaying in Dunedin, I think he lived in Concord area. Yes I have just last month I reached that age of 80 years old, I'm lucky that my health is still good enough to still be able do those skills if I had to work at my trade of panelbeating, I'm still working each day on our wee farm. We were both saddened to read of John's Passing today. Anne clearly remembers working with Noeline at Paterson and Barr Department store back in the 1960's. When working at the Kiln Brick supply centre in Bridgeman Street, Peter was associated for many years with John in his trade as a Brick and Block layer when he was contracted to help develop the centres Brick Garden display area. I remember him as a very friendly and obliging person whom I got along with very well during the time he was contracted to construct our displays. Of all of the brick and block trades people I dealt with he was one of a very few whom I deeply respected and I valued his input during design discussions we had over the 5 or 6 years it took to fully develop the display. Rest in peace John. You are one out of the box!!! To Noeline and Family, our deepest sympathy. He will be missed by many.
