LECKIE James Alexander (Jim); a life long resident of St Clair.
Died peacefully on Saturday 24 May, 2025; aged 86 years. Dearly beloved husband of Eleanor for 64 years and a wonderful father and father-in-law of Duncan and Dessy, Sandra and Grant Millar, Rachael and John Bryant, and Belinda and Mark. Grandad Jim to Nicholas, and Michael Leckie; Gemma and Jordan Sheed, Anna and Scott Fitzgerald, and Craig and Sophie; and great grandfather of Lewis, Walter, Albert and Penny Sheed, and Henry, Wilfred and Morris Fitzgerald.
A service to celebrate Jim's life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 2pm on Thursday May 29. In lieu of flowers donations to St John Ambulance, would be appreciated and may be left at the service.

Sad to say goodbye to a wonderful and kind man. I was overjoyed to hear a recording of him playing the keyboard at his service and will forever hold fond memories of the many years of lessons he enjoyed with me. Music was certainly a big part of his life in latter years. My thoughts and prayers are with you Eleanor and your family as you navigate your life without Jim. Deepest sympathy Sharyn Gibson xx

A lovely appropriate Farewell Service for Jim. I can see him laughing coyly over all the good words said about him. My God give Eleanor and all the family the strength to help them through this sad time. Our sincere sympathy and love. Barbara and Hadyn
Kennedy St neighbours and all us children growing up together playing in the street. Many memories of being with the family as a child and Mr Leckie gave me my first school holiday job making patties. Mum also delivering meat regularly for Leckies was another memory. Rest in peace Mr Leckie.

Have fond Memories of days of Organ Club Conventions and Savage Club catching up with Jim and Eleanor and playing and listening to music. May the melodies linger on. My thoughts are with you. Deepest sympathy from Eunice.
Aroha nui Belinda and Leckie family. I fondly remember Jim and Eleanor hosting us all before the Queen's High Formal in 1986 and their wonderfully warm hospitality. Deepest sympathy from the Clarke family.

Eleanor and family I remember well the visits my sister, brother and I made to visit our cousins at St Clair in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the beach, the butcher shop (with its aerial track to Jim's mum, Daisy, for cash sales) and, to me, the exotic villa and garden across the road. Rides on the surf skis of the day remain a very clear memory Eleanor, it was lovely for Pauline and I to catch up with you recently in Timaru and hear about Jim.
