Echoing the voices of others who have posted here, the first thing that comes to mind thinking of Glenn was kindness. I knew Glenn through work. Glenn was a thoughtful details person, who was always so calm and helpful and had a great warm sense of humour. He will be missed in the University community.
Having known Glenn in different capacities through both work and through my parents in the motorbike group, I am so saddened to hear of his passing. Glenn was a true light in this world, he was witty and helpful, and endlessly thoughtful. He always volunteered his time and support, and his efforts in the workplace and beyond will truly be missed. When I announced both of my boys’ pending arrivals, he reached out with a generous offer of his Mum’s gorgeous knitting. He would have been thrilled to know that my second boy arrived just a couple of days after he passed. Sending all my love to his whānau and friends - especially Erin and his Mum. Thinking of you all! Rest easy, Glenn x
Glen was a great person with a heart of gold always willing to help you at by anyways he could a genuine around nice person and loyal he always had your back from the first time i meet him at the clue club. You will be forever missed and in my heart your d&d friend and always your (pizza mike)
Glenn was the kindest person I have known. We met when he became a PSA delegate at University of Otsgo. He initiated and attended meetings to advocate for members, provided on the ground support to members, participated in bargaining and was amazing support to me personally. He was friendly, kind, supportive and funny. I can't imagine the loss that his family and colleagues are feeling, my heart goes out to you. Glenn was a shining star, and I feel blessed to have known him and worked with him
Glenn was the kindest soul that I’ve ever had to pleasure to meet. An avid lover of ice hockey (and commentator at the Dunedin Thunder games!) I will miss our work coffee catch ups discussing hockey and everything in between. Rest easy my friend. Lots of love to Erin, and Glenn’s family.
To Glenn there were no strangers, just friends he was waiting to meet. As I sit here in contemplation the enduring memory of Glenn will always be his smile and his love of people and life. We were lucky to have spent even a moment in your presence. Rest easy, you are missed but your love will always be with us.
I was so shocked and sad to hear this news as I have seen Glenn just last Friday in the office. Always willing to help, knowledgeable, compassionate and kind. That's how I will remember you, Glenn, rest in peace. We will miss you a lot.
I knew Glenn on a professional basis. Every semester he would go well and truly out of his way to help get International students fully enrolled -often up against complexities and deadlines. Absolutely committed with heart and soul and a pleasure to deal with. Always checking in and trying to find ways to make things easier for me. Absolutely wonderful fellow and one of a kind. Sincere condolences to his family and everyone else saddened by his passing.
I had the pleasure of knowing Glenn through work at the University. I will remember him as a genuinely kind, warm and caring person with a wonderful sense of humour. I will always be grateful for his great support of me during a particularly difficult time at work. He was very generous with his knowledge and his time, and I am grateful to him for sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge of ice hockey with me. I am deeply saddened by his loss, and may his memory live on in those who loved him. Rest easy, Glenn - thank you for everything.
Glenn was a truly amazing friend and person. I met him years and years ago when i worked for contact energy. I was brand new and terrified of angry people... He used to shoot me with nerf bullet's (somehow silently) to get me out of my own head. And then tell me a joke that would make me laugh so hard id need a loo break. He introduced me to Terry Pratchett (who remains one of my favourite authors today)... And superhero movies. He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, if you were in a bind. I will always remember you fondly Glenn. You were one in a million
I was sad to hear the news about Glenn. Whenever I had a course management (CM) issue, he was my go-to guy for assistance. I’ll miss his easy-going nature, sense of humour and willingness to help. Recently he’d helped me with a work-related issue, and I remarked to him “Your CM legend status remains intact”. We’ve lost a good ‘un. Rest easy, Glenn. The eternal legend. Sincere condolences to your family, friends, and CM work colleagues.
I was so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. Glenn has been a constant presence in my workplace since the early days of AskOtago. He was always so warmly friendly and welcoming when he was at the reception desk, and made each person he greeted feel seen and valued when they came into the building. Since joining our team he has brought humour and kindness in spades, whether it be a witty or supportive comment in a group chat or taking the time to stop and talk when leaving the building in the evening. Glenn will be keenly missed by everyone who came into contact with his heart of gold. My thoughts are with all of Glenn's loved ones at this very sad time.
