SOMERVILLE, Gerald Robert - On March 17, 2025, at St Andrews Home and Hospital, passed away peacefully with family by his side; aged 80 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Anna, James and Kate, loved grandfather to Sophie, Eva; and Ella. Gerald will be forever missed. - A private farewell will be held. I would like to offer my sympathy in the passing of Gerald. It was a very sad day for the Somerville family. Also I would like to acknowledge the previous passings of Jill and Judy.
Well Gerald you have gone to the last great field-day in the sky. We know how much you enjoyed a road trip, we know how much you loved your machinery. You were quite the entertainment. Our sympathy goes out to his family and friends as another good soul is gone. We all enjoyed his visits to Paper Plus Dunedin, and everything said was finished with a smile. Everybody knew who Gerald was and were saddened to hear the news. I heard you are doing one last road trip over the old trail, I hope it is not to rough.
Our adored Uncle Gerald. We will miss you. Your fun loving spirit was larger and more golden than the rolling hills of Central Otago. Whenever we see anything John Deer or Rhodedenrons in bloom , we'll know you're not far away.. With our love.
Twin to Judy, the brother Wayne Vorrath never had, second dad to Tania and Rebecca, uncle to Alaine and Luke, and great uncle to Poppy, Ethan, Alex, Freya and Eli. We will all miss the cheeky, mischievous and kind-hearted Uncle Gerald. We know you are back with Judy again.
