Dear Stephen, Stephanie & Ewen, It was a joy for Wanda and me to join you online for Fienie's memorial service. What special memories you all have of this extraordinary woman, wife, mother & Ouma. We learnt heaps from the wonderful tributes that flowed. Thank you for allowing us to share in that special time of hearing you rise up, honour and bless your Proverbs 31 woman. We now pray your hearts will be find peace and be stilled even as you continue to grieve. So sad to hear of Aunty Fienie's death. The service was a wonderful tribute. I loved to hear the stories that reveal other sides of her I did not know of. A cheeky, cheerful and generous woman, who will not be forgotten. Love to you all.

We have very fond memories of Fienie. She was a worker for the LORD in so many ways. She will be deeply missed by all those who treasured her love and input into their lives. Fienie had complete confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ, her hope was in Him. Praise the LORD For His salvation as Fienie is experiencing His presence now and forever. Our thoughts are for Stephen and the family here in New Zealand and South Africa. We call to mind, John 6:40 “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” We look forward that glorious day when we will see the LORD we love and all those family and friends who have followed Jesus in love and faith. Dear Fienie, It has been a sad time for us to learn of your passing. But we also know that your beautiful soul is in a much much glorious and better place, safe and at peace in the everlasting arm of our Lord Jesus Christ. Fienie, you were like a mother to us during our time in New Zealand. You mentored me, you encouraged me, taught me how to sew and helped me grow in the Lord. You took our family under your wings and made us feel at home in Dunedin, because we were so far away from our home country. You would make blankets and clothes for our children when they were little and invite us to your lovely home. Words are not enough to say how much you have impacted our lives. You had a Christlike heart and we will always remember and cherish you. Our sincere condolences to your family. May God surround each one with His love, comfort, strength, peace and hope. Arriving in New Zealand in 2003 from the UK, Scott was the first to receive your hospitality and warm welcome. You guided Scott through those months of Hannah and I not being with him. He was so thankful to you and Stephen, you welcomed him into Highbrae with open arms and in his moments of doubt had we done the right thing, you were there for him. When Hannah and I arrived in November 2003 you greeted us with your warm smile, a smile I will never forget. Our friendship grew, even when we moved into our own home we would spend Saturday mornings at the farmers market and go to the pool together for a good few years. We spent Christmases with you and your family, you became our NZ family. Thank you Fienie for being you, you will be sadly missed and remembered fondly. Rest in peace 🙏

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you grieve together. We are thankful that you do so with the precious and certain hope of the gospel. We remember chatting with Fienie on her visits to Wellington, struck by her gentleness, warmth and kindness and were blessed by her & Stephen’s hospitality when we stayed at Mc Andrew bay. Coming to NZ back in 2003, you were both my first “auntie and uncle” here spending our first few weeks at Highbrae living with you. Your warm welcome is something I have never forgotten and the magic of playing piano in your front room as well as the dress you made me for a school dress up day. Thanks Fiene for being an amazing Social Worker and one of the best managers I ever had. It was lovely keeping in touch with you and, other colleagues like Glenys, over the years. I was very saddened to hear of your passing and the world is a lesser place without you and your goodness in it. My sincere condolences to Stephen and family who will all be missing you so much. Thinking of your loved ones during this difficult time.

May you be held in the everlasting, compassionate arms of our loving God as you say your final goodbyes to Fienie. And may the beautiful memories that will be shared, comfort and strengthen you for the days, months and years ahead. I treasure the memories of the wonderful times and holidays we spent together, from the time when our kids were all small, right up to, and especially, recent holidays spent roaming around 'country roads' in the Catlins, reliving old memories. Stephen, Fienie and your warm hospitality and generosity of your time have made those times extra special. Thinking of you all as we remember Aunty Fienie. She was a remarkably intelligent, kind, and gentle soul. Whether she was tending to her beautiful garden or working on her sewing, her compassion always shone through. Her strong faith in Christ was a beautiful testament to how she lived her life.
