van de WATER, Erin Lee.
Tragically lost on July 24, 2025, while driving her beloved Camaro.
Much loved wife of Alastair Shand, beloved daughter of Kevin and Debbie, loved sister and sister-in-law of Bryce and Catie, and Auntie of Harvey, and Tilly.  There is the opportunity to share your best stories with Erin during the service, or at the tribute celebration following.  Erin loved her Camaro so parking will be available for cool and classic cars.

A celebration of Erin's life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 2pm on Saturday, August 2, followed by private interment.  No flowers please.  Messages can be left below where there is also a link to the service.

Our deepest sympathies to Al, Debbie and Kevin, Bryce and Catie, Harvey and Tilly and Erin’s many dear friends. A beautiful woman inside and out and a champion of the community lost. Our lives crossed briefly, but we are blessed for the experience. Rest in peace. Jenny, Saul, Hadden, Tracey and the team at Moons.

Erin... I have tried to write this what feels like a million times. How can I possibly sum you up in one message, it is impossible. I am forever thankful that you were the first friend I made when I moved here to NZ. My most precious memories will be those we shared when we went to LA together. You worked so hard to get there through Smashbox and we just had a blast. You were there before me and by the time I got there you had upgraded our room, booked us in to get tattoos at the coolest studio in town and got free passes to the private pool party, you couldn't believe they had the audacity to close the pool to paying guests for a private party! I remember I was just quietly trying to blend in but you dive bombed straight into the pool!!! We hired a convertible Mustang to drive around in and we had the top down and blasted out the music. You said you couldn't read the map in a car so we followed a tour bus and wherever they stopped, we stopped, they were not happy with us. Every day was filled to the brim with things to do and that is how you lived your life, filled to the brim, making precious memories. I love my rockstar friend and I will always miss you, I will miss your messages and THE MEME! Hahaha... You are the friend everyone wants, you are the person everyone wishes they could be like, confident, creative, beautiful, sassy, independent and the list goes on.. I am just thankful that I had the privilege of being your friend and have an abundance of special memories to look back on. Until we meet again, forever in my heart, Nicola xoxox

I first met Erin during my colourful eyeshadow and eyeliner phase while she worked at Mac, over the years I got to work alongside her in fashion shows and photo shoots, her on the make up, me as a hair stylist and loved her enthusiasm and willingness to give her time and energy for every event. Her passion for life was inspiring and she had an interest in everyone and everything. Rest easy Erin, sending lots of love to Al and the Vandewater family

Sherry Vegas. Once a derby girl, always a derby girl. Our aroha goes out to your beautiful family and friends, we are so sorry for the enormous loss of your rockstar girl. Sherry Vegas was a great friend, team mate, league member, pre-bout-makeup-applier, and skater with DD. We shared many laughs and adventures, and we are so sad our paths won't cross again. Sending love to you all, especially to Cowboy who came along to all of Sherry Vegas' games and afterparties, and to Vanity Fear (a group of us wanted to pass on our love at the service but didn't find the right moment). Much love from DD.

Dear Erin’s family I met Erin couple of years ago, once through going to Groom and then again when I started going to TCP,I always enjoyed going to see Erin ‘even though it was slightly torturous’ there was always lots of good chat and she would tell me about all the things she was up to like when she booked the amazing holiday to go and see her favourite band in America, her car and her wee side hustles like the car mats. She was always so kind and genuinely caring and always interested in what was happening in my life she gave great advice too. My daughter went to to her a couple of times at TCP and said about 10 years ago when she was at uni she was walking down high street in the ice one night and a car with two girls stopped and asked her if she would like a ride which she gladly accepted and she never knew who those girls were until she met Erin at the clinic 🫶 I’m so glad our paths crossed and I had the pleasure of getting to know her - she will be so sadly missed. My heart is broken for you and I send my love to your family at this terribly sad time 💛🌈😢 Sandy Vincent xx

What a beautiful service! Erin has brought us together yet again: some of you I've never met, others I hadn't seen since her fabulous wedding. Paul's statement about feeling he and Craig had been "chosen" by Erin resonated with me. From the moment I met her, I felt like I'd been selected for something amazing: flatmate, drinking buddy/"enabler", confidante, and lifelong friend. Al, Debbie, Kevin, and Bryce, my heart aches with you and for you. To those friends who feel lost and broken, I'm with you.

I had the privilege of being a client of Erin’s for the past two years. Erin, thank you for all the wonderful conversations and the incredible advice you gave me. You had such a beautiful ability to connect with people, and I will never forget you. Until we meet again 🩷 To Erin’s family — my thoughts are with you x
