On July 24, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her family; aged 95 years.
Beloved wife of the late Rex . Deeply missed by her children Barbara and Bruce Maher, Garry and Kathy Ball, and her Grandchildren Glen and Lee, Chris and Maiyan Maher; Melissa, Nicholas, Natalie, Cameron and Danii Ball and Great-grandchildren Hugo, and Archer.
Our heartfelt appreciation to the caring staff at Ward 4C Dunedin Hospital. Also to her wonderful family at Yvette Williams Retirement Village over the past two years.
A Service to celebrate Betty's life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 2pm on Thursday July 31, followed by private cremation. Messages can be left on Betty's page below.

When Glen named the family Messenger group, ‘Love is our Nan/Betty,’ he was spot on. There’s been so much love in and around Betty’s life, and, in her last days, a rock-solid family were there for her every second of every day. In all the times I met Betty she emanated a love and lust for life, a positive outlook, a sharp mind, and a marvellous talent for having fun. Though she leaves an unfillable gap, she also leaves a multitude of memories. I reckon she’d like us to honour those in the time-honoured way of raising a glass of very fine wine. To Betty. So sorry to read of Bettys passing. When still in Oamaru she used to walk past my place most days and we would pass the time of day. My late Husband worked with her Husband Rex at the W.E.P..B and we would catch up at Reunions. She will be sadly missed.
Betty’s passing is certainly the end of an era and of many happy memories. Not only will she be missed by her dear family, but also her many friends. Betty I’m sure will have already tidied up and checked the staff for whiteness of robes and straightened their wings in her new residence. She was a force of nature and set standards for many of us. Betty could out sparkle the finest of wines and always made family gatherings happy memorable events. She will be remembered fondly and missed. The Ball family in England
I’m sorry to hear about Betty’s passing. I’m so blessed to have been able to call her my friend, she was a very special lady. So glad I was able to visit Betty in April before returning to Canada. Sending virtual hugs to the family .
