On June 27, 2026, peacefully at Oxford Court Rest Home; aged 81 years. Very dearly loved wife for 52 years and best friend of the late Ian (John), dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Paul and Beth (U.K.), and Suzanne, and loved Nana of Hannah and Nick, and great-nana of Willow; loved sister and sister-in-law of Clive and Anne Davies (Cairns), and the late Shirley and Paul McLennan, much loved aunt of her nieces and nephews and her extended family and friends. - A service for Eleanor will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin, at 11am on Wednesday, July 8, followed by private cremation. Dear Aunty Eleanor, I have many fond memories of staying at your house as a kid with the family. It was always warm (inside!) yummy food, cosy bed. You and Uncle Ian were always caring and generous. You always wanted to be my favourite Aunty and you were. As I moved away from NZ you kept in contact at birthdays sending memorable cards with pictures of me as a child, and we sent messages to one another, probably not as often as you would have liked. But you were always present in my memories, as are the rest of the family in NZ. It was a sad day when you had to leave your home. Even I felt a pull in the heart seeing it sold and never to be able to come and see that amazing view. Time for you Aunty to be with the man of your life Uncle Ian, in love and spirit. Happy again. I am sure you will be missed by all the family in NZ and afar. As Mum and I will be watching online. Your brother, Clive, is close by in spirit. We will be with him later today. Remembering Many Happy Times with Eleanor and John at Brockville Indoor Bowling Club, an latterly when my Late Husband Bob Newbury was a resident at Oxford Court, she would come along and spend time with us and when I was waiting for a taxi home at 4pm each evening Eleanor would sit with me till the Taxi came, and we would have a great natter. Rest in peace Eleanor you were a kind and loving Friend to me and my Family for years from Pat Newbury x
