On February 27, 2025, peacefully in Wanaka; aged 95 years.
Dearly loved and loving wife of the late Ian; loved Mum and Elaine to Clare, Mike, Andrew, Scott and Michelle; and special Gran to George, Alex, Rosie, Maxwell, Louella, and Isabel.
Huge thanks to the whole team at Aspiring Enliven for their superb care. A private farewell remembering Elaine's long, full life has been held.

When in 1983 I arrived in the Anatomy Department at Otago as Professor and Head of Department, Elaine was the sole female on the staff. This was a situation that I was unhappy with, but Elaine made up for it with her superb support and wonderful input into the teaching of the Department. She brought her professional expertise with her and ensured that she was an excellent role model for the students, especially the female students. She also excelled at helping the new female staff as they were appointed, and she was an exemplary support in upholding ethical standards as and when required. I look back at those early days with fondness and am thankful for the manner in which Elaine made such a vital contribution to the ethos of the Department especially as it started to grow and develop into what it is today.. All the way from Kenya, remembering my special Auntie Winnie, fun, fashionable, a great mum, and never shy to speak her mind! For me growing up, she was my 'modern' and 'feisty' aunt. She and Uncle Ian, who I adored, were kind to a shy, 'difficult' young girl. With lots of warm memories and thanks for her life. Always sad to say goodbye, Liz
