It is with great sadness, and a reasonable amount of disbelief, that the family of Derek "Dezza" McAllister announce his passing. Dezza spent his life pursuing the important things: rugby, racing, fishing, and explaining why he could have gone professional if "the selectors knew what they were doing." He was famous for arriving at a BBQ with nothing but an appetite and leaving with everyone's leftovers carefully packed for later. Friends remember him as a man who never paid retail price for anything and never met a bargain he didn't like Dezza leaves behind a loving family, many loyal mates, and a workshop containing enough miscellaneous nuts and bolts to rebuild a small country.

Those dodgy bbq burgers finally got you Dezza! I'll miss the juicy steaks you were famous for.
