GRENNELL, Dennis -
Passed peacefully on August 31, 2024, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer's. Loved son of the late Wikitoria Grennell (nee Pomare) and Phillip Grennell, treasured husband and bestfriend of Noelene, honoured and loved father and father-in-law to Diane and Witi, Peter and Caroline, Niki and Matthew. Grandad to 6, great-grandad to 12, great-great-grandad to 3, he was special to them, and they were all very loved by him.

Dennis you were a beautiful, kind & funny man. You knew humility & love. Life was not perfect, but whatever it held, you were so gracious. One of my heroes, we were much better for having you for a season in our lives. Thanks Den & Noel, blessings & peace. Roger
When I attended Tamaki Bible Chapel in the 70s, I remember Dennis and Noeleen inviting our family to their home. Ps Dennis encouraged me as one of the few sole parents in our church, and those words of affirmation were so good when life could be hard at times. Dennis was a good role model to my children and Noeleen was always the gracious woman we read of in Proverbs 31. Our condolences to the fanau. Maybe we'll meet up in Queenstown one day and if not it will be a wonderful reunion in Heaven with our Lord.
I had only known Dennis for two and a half years along of course with Noelene. Dennis had come in to Care while Alan my husband was in there and Noelene and I were in the same boat. Dennis was an absolute delight very calm, gentle, quiet and engaging so to Noelene I say memories are pearls of thought kept in your heart. Such a sad loss he was a special man and you were the love of his life and his rock. Loved your companionship through that time and still do my friend. Lots of Love.
We were deeply saddened by the loss of such a long-standing friend, especially someone who was loved & trusted by our family. Dennis wouldn't ever say this himself but he was a remarkable, down to earth, "Normal" Christian, Pastor & friend. His loyalty & friendship, warmth & laughter made a lasting impact on our family's lives. In a world where true friendship can be rare, we were fortunate & thankful to have known Dennis. He will be deeply missed but the memories we have shared will forever live on in our hearts. Noelene, we especially remember the time in February 2021, when we met "the lovelies " & went to your favourite Cafe in the Remarkables. We send our special love & thoughts to you. Rest in Peace, dear friend, you will never be forgotten. Tony & Janet
We were privileged to enjoy Dennis and Noeline's ministry over a number of years which was shared with both passion and compassion. We have special memories of your caring and wise leadership and of your steadying hand at Valley Rd church when so many became involved in worshipping locally. Dennis was a man of the utmost integrity but above all it was his love for our God that shone through. Our sympathy and love to Noeline and the wider family at this time
Respected Dennis for his teaching, his realness, his humour. Special memories of him baptizing me in the swimming pool 🙂 thinking of you Noelene. Sarah nee Hildreth
Haeri ra, beautiful man, so grateful for all your and Noelene,s love for our family over many years. What a great reunion will be had by those gone before.
So very thankful and wonderfully blessed to have know Dennis and walked with him as our YG leader during the 70’s at Rutland street Chapel. Also spent time with him in Auckland while at BCNZ - he and Nolene so kindly looked after Vimala when she was sick at college. Dennis & Nolene along with Rudi and Loraine and Albert and Ruth at Easter Camps - we will ways be grateful! We have many memories of the YG rugby team with Dennis coaching - the help he gave the Brighton community when there was that wonderful move of God through Graham R. Ray C. and others during that time. Thank you so much Dennis - you were a spiritual giant in my life. Alan & Vimala May
So very thankful to God for Dennis and Noelene’s life and example, input into my life as a teenager at Rutland Street all those years ago. Thankful for Dennis modeling a passion and fire for God. Love and blessings to Noelene and the family. From Grant and Jenni Brewster - Seattle, Washington.
We have lovely memories of our dear friend Dennis and have been deeply saddened that these past years have seen him living with Alzheimer’s. We had the pleasure of sitting under Dennis & Noelene’s leadership at Valley Road Church for many years and we appreciated their godliness and down-to-earth nature as they shared and gave of themselves to the members. Dennis was a man of compassion and passion whom God used to touch many lives including ours. He was a man of ideas, and we admired the way that he was instrumental in setting up the ‘Never to Old’ gymnasium-based programme for older people that is still running. Our sincere condolences to you, Noelene and your family as you grieve your great loss. May you know God’s grace, peace and comfort at this time.
Our thoughts are with you all today as you farewell a very special man. Fond memories of a favourite Uncle and sending love from John's whanau Denver, Oakley, Redford and Amiria and Deirdre.
Our deepest condolences from the AUT whānau. His legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of our never2old programme, which he helped bring to life. He was a man of grace, humility, kindness, quiet strength, and wisdom ❤️. Rest in peace
