Hi Anna, I was sorry to hear that you lost Corran recently. I first met Corran in 1965 when I became a patient. He was a caring dentist with a lovely nature and a contagious laugh. He will be missed by so many, none more than you. Please accept my condolences.

Dear Anna! Anna? It must be a mistake... Why not Anna & Corran???? You will always be a "package" to me, I will always see you as a couple, because I have no other memories... Just like when I heard about his passing, my first instinct was to write: I see Corran at the controls of a plane (well, more of a light aircraft than a jet!), flying towards the sun. Another vision is of him swinging a club so effectively on the golf course that the ball recedes beyond the horizon and he disappears there in pursuit... I always imagine him as a happy, smiling person. And why not? He pursues his passions in life: besides flying and playing golf, he also enjoys countless travels and an interest in the military... He has a wonderful, large family! A family that is there for him in good times and in sickness. This illness could have waited. But for her, there is no good time. For those who remain on this side of the horizon, there can be some comfort in the fact that he no longer hurts. That nothing worse will ever happen to him. That he won't have to suffer the way they are now grieving the loss of a loved one. But that's little consolation. One would so much like to live together again, to celebrate, to experience new experiences... Pain and despair are strange phenomena. They appear and disappear in turn. They can lie dormant, seemingly tamed, only to suddenly return with a cascade of memories at the touch of a tiny detail. A button, a handkerchief, the smell of cologne – anything can be a distraction. Still, probably well hidden behind your good upbringing, Anna, lurks anger, maybe even rage: how could you do this to me? You left me alone to face daily worries, problems, bills, renovations!!! Why? You know how difficult it is to go through life alone?! Why didn't you fight harder... Anna! There are no good words to say. It hurts like hell! And it won't stop for a long time—if ever. All I can offer you is compassion because I've been going through this for five years.

We met Anna and Corran with my wife Anne‑Claire during a trip to Beijing. They looked a bit lost—just like us—when we all came out of the subway, and we quickly connected. We ended up spending the whole afternoon together until dinner. They wanted to try some street food, so that’s exactly what we did. When we said goodbye that evening, they kindly invited us to visit New Zealand—an invitation we happily accepted the following year. Corran was always incredibly kind, with an exceptional sense of humor, and, to top it off, quite the charmer. We shared wonderful moments together, both in France and in New Zealand—memories that are truly unforgettable for us. I will never forget the moment when he had my daughter Léone on his lap during a walk at our home in Alsace… All our French friends are deeply saddened. We now wish for Corran to rest in peace, and we send a message of love and support to his entire family. Anna, we are thinking of you so much. Come visit us whenever you can.

Hello. I'm Corrans niece, and third daughter of Pamela, his eldest sister. I remember the visits to Corran and Maree as a young child. We'd park on the steep hill outside, and on one of those visits, I went out to the car where Alison and Patricia were waiting. I was playing with the hand brake, and the car started rolling forward, but luckily Alison manages to stop the car by pulling hard on the brake. I must have been about 3 at the time. I loved those visits and remember my baby cousins, and the trampoline in the front yard. The last visit to that place, Corran took us to the Taieri airport for a plane ride. We were allowed to ride along in the car with the windows wide open, and that felt very special with corran being so happy. When my father died, corran came down to Milton to pray us tribute. Mum told Corran to help himself to the surgery equipment, which seemed the most appropriate thing to do. But Corran called me to his dental chair, and I consider myself one of the lucky ones, as I looked forward to going to the dentist, for once. He was fun, and so gentle. I should dig up a photo I have of that and share this if you wish. You always had a place in my heart Corran, and I'm so pleased to have met you Anna. It's wonderful that you were so happy together, and I than you Anna for that. My condolences to my three cousins Andrew, Alistair and Geoffrey. It's been such a long time since I saw you, but did on this live stream to which I am grateful. And a few glimpse of Aunty Jenny Alloo. She also has an infectious smile. Love to you all Kathleen

Anna, Andrew, Alister, Geoff and Jenny sending sincere condolences to you and extended families I was very fortunate to have been a dental assistant for both Mrs Enid Munro and then for Corran from 1961 onwards. It was my pleasure to catch up with other dental assistants who worked with Corran at a talk he was giving at U3A meeting where we were introduced to you Anna and it was amazing that all of us then went on to work at the Dental School after your retirement Corran. Sorry that I am unable to be with you all today but will be joining you all online. You were a great employer and friend. Judith Hayward (Mason)

Anna, our hearts go out to you. We hope the treasured memories you will have of life with Corran - and will be sharing - will sustain you in the days ahead. Andrew, Alastair and Geoff, our condolences. We have many happy memories of life with the Munro family, picnics, dogs, cats and children playing together, time spent in the dentist chair. You had a great father and I am sure he has left you with many good memories to reflect on. Sadly we cannot be at Corran's Memorial Service as we have another commitment but we will watch that on livestream over the weekend. Take care everyone

I very sad to hear Corran has passed away. Corran was our family dentist for many years - and even though there was the normal dread of going to the dentist, I always enjoyed catching up with him. Corran also attended my Dad's funeral to pay his respects - and that meant a lot to us. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

I was sad to read of the passing of an old friend and colleague whom I have known, respected and admired since we were dental students in the 1950s. My sincere condolences to Anna and her family and to Corran's family.
