Mr D was my teacher at oghs in the 90s. He helped me gained 1st in woodwork and end of year prize giving I still have a photo of me and Mr d getting this certificate. Help me in many ways. Great teacher with respect. Condolences to the families xx

A kind teacher when there were very few at OGHS in the early 80s. RIP.

One of my fondest memories of OGHS was 3rd form Social Studies on a Friday with Mr D. There were many talks about the cheese making process, not sure how much about social studies we learned. Many cream buns were promised if we could answer questions correctly. What a wonderful teacher. Rest in peace Colleen.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Colleen was certainly a character and lived life to the fullest. We have fond memories of meeting him at the Dunedin Farmers Market when we were stall holders. I learnt of Colleens death last week. I never met Colleen the teacher. I certainly knew Colleen of Evansdale Cheese - hint - do an internet search on ‘Xero Evansdale Cheese’ for some great photos. She was always interested in who she was talking to, was so kind, and knew everybody. I met her because we made the same life change at about the same age. Just one story - we would sometime meet for lunch - I never knew what car she would turn up in - they kept changing! The car also appeared to be her office - with papers, letters, files, business stuff everywhere. A ride always meant clearing the passenger seat first. I am so glad I knew Colleen and she is greatly missed - RIP -wonderful lady.

Colleen. This world is largely populated by us ordinary folk, so we collectively cannot afford to lose the few who, like you, have the courage to jump off those tracks that take the rest of us to the same destinations. R.I.P. Colleen, knowing that you showed us in your personal and entrepreneurial lives, that it is possible to travel in other directions. Thank you for that. Mark

Sadly I never had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful character but I’ve eaten a lot of his cheese since meeting Lesley at a WEL conference in Auckland in the 70’s and finding out about it. The incomparable farmhouse Brie has made regular appearances in our northland home over the years, loved by all. Our condolences to all the family at this sad time.

How sorry I am to learn of Colleen's death. I have to admit that I have not seen Colleen for a long time but there was a time when we shared a supportive and encouraging friendship for many years. Such wonderful memories of my time selling Evansdale cheese at the Otago Farmer's Market. 3 for $10.........or was that 4 for $10.?! Followed by coffee and cheese puffs. Thank you Colleen for your generosity. Oh how we did have some laughs........ The wide mouthed frog!! The Cheese Awards. Colleen you touched so many people's lives in such a good way. Col made going to the Farmers Market a lively and fun experience. Big personality, great sales pitch and always remembered his customers. I will always think of Col when I eat the best cheese in the South Island.
