On July 29, 2025, passed away peacefully, at Leslie Groves Hospital; aged 80 years. Beloved husband of Jennifer, much loved Dad and father-in-law to Tracey Leckie, and Lisa and Tony Norrish, loved grandad to Ashley, Harley, Jaimee, and Taine, great-grandad to Isla, loved brother and brother-in-law to Karen and Terry Byers, Lin and Alan Moir, Ali Leckie and recently reconnected siblings Ken, and Flora.
- A service to celebrate Cam's life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 11:00am, on Wednesday, August 6, followed by private cremation. Messages can be left on Cam's page below, where there is a link to livestream the service.

I was a curious and persistent child who loved to learn the "how's" and "why's" of the world. I think grandad found great joy in seeing his grandkids grow to know and love the world around them. From questions about nature and animals and life, to questions about machinery and history and war: Grandad seemed to have all of the answers I could possibly ask him for. Grandad frequently found ways to capture our attention (and further capture our hearts). He fostered my great love and admiration for birds, and played an essential part in my wanting to become an ornithologist (professional bird-studier) when I was younger. Taine shared a memory of when grandad gifted him an ant farm. It is clear that even my younger brother's memories of grandad relate back to appreciating creatures and their place on this Earth (and the strength that even the smallest ones possess). Grandad the man you were to us is no less than incredible. While we are saddened by your passing, our love for you has a strong hold in many of our oldest memories. I know that when I encounter moments of quiet strength and serenity in the natural world around me, I'll feel your presence in it always.
Cam and I were introduced in our teenage years, and formed a relationship that led to many adventures that spanned across the south island. We shared in each others wedding parties, then lost touch when our careers took us off in different directions. We made cotact again when we were able to catch up in Perth when visiting. When Cam and Jen returned to NZ we were pleased to be able to spend time together again. We extend our sincere condolences to you all at this sad time, and will join you through the live stream on Wednesday. Regards from Dave and Irene.
To the family of Cam, It is with real sadness we've learnt of Cams passing. As well as being long time ago mates as we lived in the same street, I was an apprentice under Cam at DCC transport. Ive always remembered Cam and the fun we all had. My sincere condolences and our thoughts will be with you on Wednesday Tony and Sandra

Hi Family. So sorry to hear of Cams passing. I guess he is at peace now. I can still remember when Cam came to live with us at Limehills. I was then about 13 and he was 3. At the time like " A little brother". Please accept mine and Margarets thoughts and sympathy. We are planning to be with you on Wednesday. See you soon Marg & Al.
