He was very influential in my life with great advice and always a listening ear. His, can do, anything attitude, enquiring mind to how things could, should or would work always impressed me. Where do I start with a tribute like this? So much to write! I had the privilege of having Mark as a friend, mentor, and teacher of all things computers when I was young…. Back then he taught me how to build, install, test, diagnose and fix these new fangled things called personal computers. He helped me find what I was interested in and taught me everything about them. Back then it was DOS, before Windows even! We had a lot of fun building computers, networking them together for Telford, for Dad’s business and many other places too. For those old enough to remember, 512kb RAM, 286/386 CPU’s, floppy disks that were actually floppy, 20 MB hard drives, parking the hard drive and everything after that :-) I will never forget the generosity of his time and knowledge that he shared with me and the impact that has had on my career. He taught me the foundations of what I know today and for those times I will be forever grateful. I spent a lot of time with Mark and the family over those years at Telford and then working for him at Clutha Computers, it was a great time! You know we brought the Internet to Balclutha - with local number dial up! Amazing when you reflect on just how big a deal that was, especially now that the internet is available almost everywhere. To Lynne, Lena, Anita and Kushla, (and your families) you have lost a great husband, father and friend, I am so sad that he is gone, and send my love and condolences at this time. I am always thankful to you as a family for the time I spent at your house, learning from him, being with him and hanging out with you all. You opened your home to me and you are all special to me and I’m grateful to you all. We had some good times, a lot of laughs and great memories. I’m sure I overstayed my welcome sometimes too, so sorry for that :-) To Mark, I have never forgotten how much time we spent, the knowledge you shared, and the great times we had, I wish I had been down to see you more and I’m so sorry I can’t be there in person, I really wish I was there (I was online). You’ve always been an inspiration to me and a great man, you were always there to share your knowledge to anyone and I will miss not having the chance to chat again. With such sadness in my heart, I send my hugest condolences to you, Lynne, and your wonderful family, on the passing of the awesome, 'one for a kind', go-getter, life challenger, battler and fighter, Mark. I have always and will always cherish the cheeky banter that we shared during those good old Salvation Army days and admired the way Mark just got on with anything, with such sheer determination and passion. The hardest worker I've ever met, refusing to give up no matter how crap he must have felt. Thank you for sharing yours and Lynne's guidance and love with my girl, Abby, over the past few years. I know she will miss you terribly Mark. Lynne, I'm thinking of you at this time and sorry I wasn't unable to attend the send-off of one of the 'good ones'. Always in my heart, memories are forever. Rest well now, Mark. You fought the good fight. 🫶

Incredibly saddened to hear the news, Mark was a massive part of inspiring me on my IT career, he had an incredible way of engaging with young people and getting them keep on technology. He put up with me breaking the family computer many many times and ultimately doing a bit of computer experience at Clutha Computers while I was a lad, you will forever live in my memory as a core part of my childhood and early days in learning.

Dear Lynne & family, my condolences for your massive loss. Mark was a wonderful man with a big heart and a real trooper and inspiration in the way he just got on with life and let nothing hold him back. He touched the lives of many and was a role model to countless young people. His cheeky smile and ‘straight up’ chat will be very missed. Thinking of you all today. Amanda OYWT.

Dear sister Lynne, Kushla, Anita, Lenamaree and Mark’s wonderful grandchildren, we are here for you. We will be alongside you in the years ahead. There will be times we will share, grieve together, reminisce about Mark our family raconteur, the adventures shared, look at family photos to see his cheeky grin. His devotion to you Lynne, your daughters and eight wonderful grandchildren. I have known Mark since 2001 through Ferret Software Support. Our friendship has gone a long way from NT to WA, and we are still in touch while in QLD. Mark is a great friend who will always be on my mind. I really miss you, my best friend. My heartfelt condolences to his family🙏🏽

Dear Lynne and family - such fun memories of Mark when his office was next to Radio Clutha - I could hear him 2 rooms away trying to get the person on the other end of the phone ( in Australia) to listen to him so that he could fix their technical issue!! To say that his end of the conversation was colourful would be an understatement. It was really nice to know that while I as working by myself in the studio - there was someone else in the building and we would often chat about nonsense. I was always impressed by his knowledge of the world. I particularly remember when the arrival of my first grandchild ( now 19) was imminent I was very excited but Mark couldn't understand the concept at all and he told me so in no uncertain terms. I was always delighted, in later years, to hear him talk of his much loved grandchildren - he finally got it!!! Deepest sympathy to you all xxxx
