AITKEN, Beverley (Bev), late of Maryhill Terrace
Passed away peacefully at the Home of St. Barnabas on August 10, 2024.
Loved wife of the late Arthur, loved mother and mother-in-law of Graeme and Jan, Steve and Mel, Jan and Carla, loved grandmother, great-grandmother, and "Gramps" of Matthew; Grace and Matthew, Isabelle, and Indie; Mackenzie and Jono, Amelia, and Maddie; Jennifer and Megan; Steph and Staples, Lucy, and Noah; and Liz, and loved friend of Nicky.
A private cremation has been held. A Memorial Service for Bev will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin, at 2pm on Saturday, August 24. In lieu of flowers donations to the Home of St. Barnabas Trust would be appreciated and may be left at the service.

Sending you all our love and deepest condolences. Bev was a very special friend of the Dassen's, particularly Mum and Dad over many, many years. Brenda (my wife) also did Home Care for Bev in recent years. She was a very special lady and will be sorely missed by everyone. When we came to NZ and Dunedin, we found a house not far from Bev and Arthur and St Mary's. We are so grateful for the welcome everyone gave us, especially Bev and Arthur. Bev was the living proof of the truth of the old adage. "Good things, come in small parcels" Thanks Bev. Pamela and Neil Welch
Dear Aitken family, We are absolutely heartbroken at the loss of Bev (Grandma). We have many fond memories of the 6 years that we were neighbour's. We looked out for you constantly and knew your routine. You inherited 2 of our cats Buddy and Mista. They loved you unconditionally and we knew they were safe with you. We miss you more than words itself... things just are not the same.. we love you. Leesh, Nic and Azaleah and our fur babies xxxx
Dear Jan and family I was very sorry to hear of Bev’s passing. She was a wonderful lady and always made me giggle with things she said. Bev was always very supportive of the Sunday school and the children and was always telling me how much she loved seeing the children. I am very sorry that I can’t be with you all tomorrow as I am out of town but my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Caroline

Jan and family, the loss of a mother is always hard, even if we accept that death is part of the package of being human. And having had her around right into your own adult years, being someone to go to for wise counsel or having a comfortable chat with or even just sitting in silence, will make her absence hard to adjust to. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May you find strength in your memories and faith. And may knowing that your Mum is now with her God bring you comfort.
Sending my heartfelt condolences. Although I have not been going to St Mary's very often of late, Bev has always been a shinning light to me for many years. Bless her. May Bev rest in peace and continue to shine her light upon her loved ones now that she has passed from her earthly life.
