Peacefully after a long illness on January 12, 2026; aged 84 years. Dearly loved husband of Raewyn for 58 years, much loved father and father-in-law of Carolyn, Chris and Tara, Rebecca and Peter, cherished Grandad of a lot and Great-Grandad, loving only son of the late Viola and Gordon.
A Memorial Service for Barry will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 11am, on Friday January 16. Messages to Barry's page below, where you can access livestream.

So sorry to read this about Barry fond memories will be thought of over the many years our families joined forces, Herman must have needed a drinking mate called Barry on Herman’s birthday to join him 12th January love and thoughts are with you all x
I was so sorry to hear Barry passed away. I worked at The Star (i.e. Midweeker and Weekender) many years ago, and I was lucky to work with Barry. He was a lovely man who was so well respected by all our team. I also remember Barry’s dislike for the misuse of the word “awesome” - as an editor, Barry would say “awesome is a word you use when you see a volcano erupt” … I still remember this advice with a smile. I’m thinking of you all at this sad time. ❤️

Barry and his family were some of the first people to meet and make us feel welcome when we moved to Harwood in 1984. He was cheerful, down to earth and had an apparently inexhaustible fund of stories about local and wider events, people and general histories. My thoughts are with you, Raewyn and family and condolences are from me and my children.

I worked with Barry at the Star in 1981. He was a great sub and fun to work with and always checked in over the years that I came and went from the ODT. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. He was a good man. Rest well Barry
I am deeply saddened to learn of Barry's passing, recalling the days we set things to rights on the Star. Barry was my more-than-capable lieutenant and I recall our days together with warmth.
