HUDSON, Barbara Mary (nee Begg).
Barbara passed away peacefully at Dunedin Hospital on Thursday August 20, 2026 ; in her 94th year. Loved daughter of the late Minnie and Eric Begg; and wife of the late Noel Hudson.
Cherished mum and mother-in-law of Jenny and Don, Marilyn and Mike , Polly (Pauline) and Ant, and Barry, and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A service will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 2pm on Wednesday, August 26, followed by private cremation. No flowers by request.

My deepest sympathies to Barbara's family. "Mrs Hudson" was my primary school teacher and dearly loved by us all at Tomahawk School. She was always smiling and encouraging us, her pupils, but didn't stand for any nonsense, so she had our respect also. She made learning fun, and my favourite teacher! We reunited again when I was an adult, and she became a dear friend of my Mum Dianne Henderson, and they both joined the same Inner Wheel club. I enjoyed every chance of catching up with her when we met, it was always a delight. She certainly "rubbed off on me" as one of my frequent phrases I say to my family and friends is "have fun". I remember happy times at the Hudson house ,with Marilyn , in my high school years. Noel and Barbara were always welcoming and friendly. Thinking of you all as you celebrate her long life.

Then, a small group of us over the years met and shared many a laugh over lunch . Barbara was a very special member of the Dunedin South Inner Wheel club. She was kind and generous and I loved hearing stories about her overseas adventures as teachers on exchange. We will miss her at our monthly meetings. Please accept our sincere condolences. Christina King President
Sincere condolences to the Hudson family for the loss of Barbara. Barbara was always very welcoming when I was at the home in Highcliff Rd. No doubt Barry and I tested her patience, but she handled things in her stride. Craig
