(Arch, Archie, Pal) - Passed peacefully at the Otago Community Hospice, on Saturday March 8, 2025; aged 80 years. Much loved husband of Barbara, loved and very proud father of Sandy, Megan, Anna, Kirsten, and Nick. Pal was adored by his grandchildren Lexie, Sam, Utah, Fenella, Nixon (and Magic). Loved and respected older brother of William and May and their family in Scotland. Much loved by the Thornton and Spence clans. Arch was dearly loved by all of his extended family and many friends.
- A service will be held in St Peter's Anglican Church, 57 Baker Street, Caversham, Dunedin at 11am on Saturday 15 March followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Otago Community Hospice would be appreciated and may be left at the service or via link below.Messages and link to live Stream below.

Dear Barb and family, We were sorry not to be able to watch the funeral service live, but were so happy to be able to livestream it this afternoon. It was a beautiful service, and so good to be able to hear all the many tributes from Archie's family and friends. Les and I were so happy that we were able to visit you all so recently in Dunedin, and that will always be a very special memory for us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
To Barbara and family, I extend my deepest sympathy in the loss of dear Archie. He had a lovely friendly personality and always was pleased to meet up with us over the years. I loved his his accent and it was a pleasure to catch up with him. Words seem inadequate at this time but please know that our love and thoughts are with you all. Sincere condolences to all of Arch's family. A lovely gentleman, super supportive of his grandchildren and he was always keen for a chat on the netball sideline. I will miss our catch ups at cricket, I loved hearing your variety of stories.

We watched with tears but also happiness, this morning's service as you laid dear Arch to rest. What a wonderful tribute by Barb, Sandy, Megan and Anna and his 5 Grandchildren and his many friends. The wonderful man Arch really was shone through. If only everyone had Arch's big heart and kindness, the world would be a better place. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with you all as you celebrate his life at the gathering this afternoon.

Dear Barbara and family, I was sad to hear of Arch's passing. I remember Archie at the Four Square, his cheeky wit and driving the big grey Valient car. It was a pleasure to get to know the family in a different context when Megan and I worked together at Features. My sincere sympathy to you all. Love Gay
