Dearly loved husband of the late Elisabeth Cunningham, and the late Barbara, much loved dad and father-in-law of Ian and Sheryll, Karen and Peter, Fiona and Po, Christine and Brendan, loved Grandpa of Kelsey, and Kayne; Jodie, Cameron, and Regan; Jessica, and Kendra; Nicole, and Andre, and loved great grandpa. - At Allan's request a private interment will be held in the Akatarawa Cemetery. I met Allan at ballroom dancing with the Robinsons’ at a Friday evening social in the upstairs room of St John’s Ambulance service, admission 1/6. Greatly appreciated during the school Winter term. And yes, Allan was a good dance partner. Allan and Elisabeth were very hospitable and I already miss their company. My thoughts are with all of Allan’s family. The Mentor has fallen (Allen). It is with much sadness that we say farewell to a treasured member of "The Taieri Friendship Group". Allan was always there to guide and support our club members. Over the many years he was on committee, going on to be our President, always managing to have interesting speakers to entertain our members. He was still on committee up until his untimely death. Allan you will be sadly missed by us all, with whom you always shared your knowledge and wisdom. Rest easy "Big Man" until we meet again. Deepest sympathy to all the family. ALLAN: Too soon, my friend. Great memories of times together these last fifteen years as you shared your life and laughter with Elisabeth. At Mosgiel as you proudly displayed your productive vegetable garden; road trips to Otago Peninsula, the Catlins and Central Otago; fun times in Auckland as you transited to travel overseas. Your knowledge and counsel was always sought and freely given. A journey done, but never will be forgotten. Thank you, Robin and Colin McKenzie.
I have such wonderful memories of working with Allan in AMP. Such a lovely man, so positive and helpful. My husband John and my self share many memories dating back many years. Always a pleasure to be with. In later years we had the delight of meeting Elizabeth and to see Allan happy again after the loss of Barbara. Allan, what can we say. So sudden, so tragic. You were such a lovely man and will be missed. You were amazing with your support of Elisabeth and her activities, loyally visiting Selwyn when he moved to the Care Unit at the Grange. Your love of gardening, especially your vegetable garden. I will miss Elisabeth and yourself coming for dinner bearing a bag of lovely fresh vegetables from your garden - that huge parsnip, weighing 1.414kg. Who could compete with that deliciousness :) Your pride in your family and the joy of attending your grandson's wedding recently and your amazement that the photographer ensured you were in all the relevant photographs. My thoughts and prayers are with Allan and Elisabeth's families at this sad time. I will miss you both at the Taieri Friendship meetings.
