I have fond memories of our F&P days. Alan was a great listener and many of us would confide in him with our problems. He was non-judgement and provided a safe space to vent. We shared the bread he brought in, sugar free lollies, daily banter and many laughs. We shared the bus daily, Alan was fun & loud in the morning & just the same on the way home. I learned about money and travel and how to save to appreciate both. It took a while, but I eventually appreciated his taste in music, but always loved Dire Straits. Alan changed the oil in my car regularly and never asked for anything in return. Thank-you for many years of friendship 'Old-Man'.

Farewell old friend. I have just watched the funeral - what a wonderful farewell you gave him Jimsie and family. I did enjoy the Spike Milligan references and music. Jean, his sister, and I stumbled around in snow up to our knees, searching for Spike’s grave in East Sussex for Alan - we never found it.

Charles and I were very sorry to read of Alan’s passing. We have such wonderful memories of him from the MR2 days; such a warm and caring man and that cheeky wee grin. We will be forever blessed to have known him and grateful for his kindness and friendship. Our thoughts are with Jimsie and family.

I always remember you popping in every now and then to see us and Dad, when I was young- I will never forget the time Paula and Nick came up to Wellington and stayed as well. I always remember the letters from Dunedin, you and Jimsie letting Pete and I stay with you a few years back and chatting to you about Jazz. So glad for those memories. Rest well bro. Simon and family xxxooo

Bro, what a wonderful sendoff. The impact you had on so many lives is astounding and I felt myself nodding along with everything Paula said.
I has been great reconnecting with you over the past few years and I'll miss our chats, especially the state of politics in NZ and the world.
Much love,
Peter, Jenny, Bennet & Cara

Alan and I (George) shared a common interest in Hi-Fi and a love of music, that goes away back. I remember just one of his amazing projects, a pair of full range electrostatic speakers built in his lounge. We shared with each other our knowledge on our various projects audio amplifiers/electrostatic tweeters etc)and he was always very helpful and generous. We will always remember Alan as very generous and always ready to help.

Deepest condolences to Jimsie and the family.
Alan was always up for s chat, we covered a lot of topics over the years, we didn't always agree, I'll miss that.
Time to celebrate a great life lived.

Alan were the kind of friend who made life feel lighter. His caring showed up in all the small ways - remembering, checking in, being there when it mattered.
Always the right kind of humor, thanks for the great conversations and laughter we shared.
We are grateful for the way you made people seen and the laughter you brought along the way.
Alan, you didn't just past time - you made memories. We are going to miss you, but we'll carry you with us in the stories, the laughs and the care you gave.
Farewell,
Lilian & Uli

Alan was a humble man who could call himself a fool and then tell you the history of another culture. It was impossible to feel sad around him. He cared about other people. He truly cared. And he made the best paper airplanes.
Thank you for being with us.
Your friends from far away will miss you: Inna & babushka, Ludmilla & Pavel, and many others.

A truly good man. The world is poorer without him. One of the smartest men I have ever met
